I own a Lenovo Z565 (I know, its meh)
I want to replace the cpu with something better, I want to game, record with fraps and render videos.
It's a bit much, yeah but oh well. I don't have too high of a budget, but I want to be able to replace this CPU.
Thanks

To be honest then, I would not recommend an upgrade. About your only upgrade left to you, processor-wise, would be going to a quad-core Phenom II, but in doing so, you sacrifice processor speed. If the games you're playing to do not take advantage of all four cores, your in-game performance would actually decrease.

25watts - dual-core @ 2.6GHz or quad-core @ 1.8GHz
35watts - dual-core @ 3.0GHz or quad-core @ 2.2GHz
45watts - dual-core @ 3.2GHz or quad-core @ 2.4GHz

Depending on which Phenom II you have installed, there's no promise than you could install another higher TDP dual-core processor.

Well, surprisingly, you actually can replace the CPU in that model laptop. Here's the manual (see pg 44). As for what you can replace it with, I don't know.

Edit: Here is a list of socket compatible processors. but you need to consider the thermal design limitations of your laptop. Your current processor has a TDP of 25 watts. I'm not sure if you can use a 35/45 watt processor in your laptop. You'd have to check with Lenovo for that.
