Hello all,

Need some serious help with my GPUs...I'll start off with a little description. I have SLI 980s (MSI gaming) and I have 2 ASUS 1440p monitors. I just recently purchase my seconds monitor. My pc was running fine and dandy with 1 monitor (minus some programs killing my cpu usage but that's for another thread). Anyways I used to easily get 60fps on AAA games with my OCd GPUS on my single ASUS. But now that I have 2 monitors (1 connected via hdmi and the other via dvi) and I can't game!!

I have an extended view on both monitors and when I go to game, the game pops up on 1 monitor and my fps is total crap at like 18-20fps. I noticed that my GPUs weren't using any power and that the core clocks were staying idle around 450-520 mhz. I attempted to go into NVidiacp and force render both cards but that didn't do anything. I benchmarked them and got the same crappy results (as if my GPUs aren't using any power to power the game). I also made sure I have the latest drivers for my GPUs. The cords are all plugged in. I have not changed the power management mode on my global settings...I was thinking of changing it from adaptive to high performance, maybe that will do the trick (im at work now). But has anyone heard of this issue?? I need help please!

tl;dr Bought a second monitor, now my SLI 980s do not go past idle clocks...can't game.

I made sure I have the latest drivers. I have an EVGA 850w gold and yeah SLI is enabled. It's as if my GPUs don't load up at all. (I do see my memory clocks go up but not my core clocks or gpu power)

I have not tried a different SLI bridge...but I removed one card and I still have the same issue. It's as if my CPU usage is way higher than my GPU usage when I'm benchmarking and gaming. But I have made sure that I set everything to run off my graphics card. Very strange I'm not sure what's going on.

Question: Did you start having the problems immediately after adding the second 980 or after the second monitor? I've had several friends who add a second card and then have problems until uninstall/reinstall the drivers, even though they are the same version of drivers.

Recommendation: Uninstall driver with DDU -> reboot -> Reinstall drivers -> Reboot.

Recommendation 2: Check CPU/GPU temps and utilization. I'm wondering if the heat from the cards is triggering your CPU to throttle itself.
