I have a Samsung np940x3k-k03us with 4 gigs of LPDDR3 1600mHz RAM, and I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade this kind of laptop to get 8 gigs of RAM, multiple websites conflict with each other and looking in the BIOS indicates that I have two slots for LPDDR3 RAM

Any suggestions or ideas?

Samsung indicates that you have 4 GB of RAM, and that is the max supported. It also indicates that you have one slot for the RAM in the link above.

For fun, I would be tempted to take a look at the MB, and see if there is a 2nd slot for RAM or not.

At least according to Samsung, 4 GB is the max for the RAM, and would leave it at that. I am not sure why they would sell a laptop with the latest Broadwell i5 CPU, and not include 6 to 8 GB of RAM which would be more in line with what the laptop should have.
