I have upgraded to windows 8.1 from windows 8 and ever since I have I have been getting limited connection on both my wifi and Ethernet. In both my houses I have internet provided by Virgin Media (in the UK).
In my house where I live when I work, I always get a limited connection after a while with my wifi and my Ethernet. This normally happens randomly and about 15 mins into connecting. Nothing resolves this problem unless I restart the router. However, my playstation 4 and my iPhone and my other laptop work fine and have no problems connecting and remaining connected. I have two other house mates who have had no problem too. I never had this problem until I upgraded to windows 8.1. I also never have this problem in my other house. I have tried :
- upgrading drivers to manufacturer supplied (Broadcom Ethernet and Qualcomm Atheros AR5B97 Wifi)
- netsh cmd functions
- I have turned off all power saving features on wifi and Ethernet and my laptop runs on performance always anyways
Things to note, when I reset my router, it will work and go back to fault.. Sometimes 15 minutes later sometimes 2 hours later. Ethernet seems to always go out very quickly and becomes "limited". My laptop will then switch to wifi which will go to limited shortly after.
I have no anti virus except for windows defender etc.
Does any one have any idea what else I can try?
