Hey guys I'm building my first gaming PC with the budget of $2500 up to $3000. I want this build to last me at least a couple of years minimum but the main goal is to run The Witcher 3 at ultra(everything needs to be at max settings apart from the res) with hairworks on.
I don't have the technical knowhow so I am hoping you guys would help me.

The best thing to do to avoid upgrades is to wait for the next version. See you're in a position where you can buy a new system, but there's new hardware that's due any week now. You have the new i5-6600K and i7-6XXX which are built on a new 14nm platform as opposed to the current 22nm platform, and you also have new Z170 motherboards which will have DDR4 RAM as opposed to DDR3. I don't know all of the details yet but that's what is known so far. But on your budget you can easily afford the new...

That's the thing. I don't want to swap parts every year. I want to build a very capable PC once and be done with it.

Swapping a graphics card after 18 months is not exactly going to be arduous , and it will give you better performance over time than buying top end gear now .
Look at the performance of two year old graphics cards compared to today .

Also i agree with g-unit . Its a bad time to be building with intel when they are just about to change platforms completely . Wait a few weeks

Thanks, I'm not buying anything till x-mas I will wait it out for sure. I was searching for information on the new hardware you mentioned and they seem to perform worse than the ones I was planning to purchase, specifically the X99 and i7-5820k.

For gaming you don't want X99, whoever said that the new platform performs worse doesn't know what they are talking about. Z170 will be a much better investment.
