Hey everyone,

I need your guys help on deciding what be the best value I can get for doing 4K at the highest setting on all current games. I have a MAX budget for $3,000 Canadian BUT it be a plus to keep it at $2,000. I use Newegg.ca and NCIX.com if you need a Postal code to see those sites, it's V8X3W3. So should I upgrade, and keep the CPU and just get more RAM and better videro cards? or new RIG all in all.

Here is my current rig

-CPU: AMD FX 8350 4.3 GHz 8 Core
-GPU: XFX R9 280X 3GB Crossfire
-PSU: Corsair AX 850 80 Plus Gold
-MB: Sabertooth FX990 1st gen
-Ram: 2x4 Total 8GB G.Skill Sniper low Voltage 1.2V 1600
-SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
-HDD: WD Cavair Black 7200 RPM 64MB
-Case: Antec 1200 2nd Gen
-CPU Cooler: Corsair H80i
-Sound Blaster ZX Sound
-LCD 5 Fan Controller LG
-Blu-Ray Writer

-Monitor Samsung 28ich 4K 60Hz Model: U28D590D

I was thinking i7-5920K, two Fury cards, 16GB of ram 500GB SSD (to put more games on it) and I am guessing a new PSU 1200W? MB umm MSI 7 gaming broad?

PS. Is Direct X 12 really doing add video memory when having two or more cards? so 4+4 will = 8GB in Crossfire for the Fury cards?

Solution

The vram will most likely not stack with DX12. Currently, if you were to SLI or Crossfire two cards you wouldn't get more VRAM. Both cards are roughly equal in terms of performance.

I would just swap out the CPU, Mobo, and GPU. Everything else seems fine. Case, if you would like, but that's really optional. Your case looks really good.

Your PSU is top of the line, it's Tier one and you'll be able to SLI 2 980 TI's. It's also 80+ Gold.

Your RAM is fine, too.

Your water cooler is great. All you will need is some thermal paste.

The extra stuff is good, too.

Just perform a clean wipe on your SSD and HDD.

If you want, you could go with this build and have the option to 4-Way SLI. But you will need a new power supply for it.

The reason why I'm suggesting this 1600W PSU is because it's Tier 1, Gold, and has more than enough power.

Sorry for the long reply.... So is the AMD FX 8350 really that bad of a CPU for gaming when comparing with a i5 or i7? also does anyone really know for sure that Direct X 12 with have the ability to have video cards to add memory? So like two 980ti will be 12GB? also why not Fury? since it has the new HBM?
