Hey guys,
So I recently posted a thread about the same gaming build, and I made some modifications according to people’s suggestions. I need to know if this build can play most new games on high or max settings with a 1080p monitor and at least 50-60 fps. I play games like NBA 2K, Minecraft, and Skyrim, but I want to know if it can handle games like Battlefield 4 and The Witcher 3 so that I can be prepared for future titles. Mid to high level graphics on the newest games are acceptable, but I would prefer high to ultra or max. My maximum budget is around $850-$900, so if you make any recommendations, please make sure that they do not drastically increase the price. Also, some people have told me that my build is overkill for what I am going for, so if you think it is, please tell how to modify it so it can be improved but be around the same price. This build costs around $820 not including peripherals and a monitor, since I already have those. Some recommendations that I do not want are a 1440p monitor, a solid state drive, and more RAM, since those would increase the price by a lot and I can always upgrade later. Thanks! Here’s the build:

Case: Corsair 400r ATX Mid Tower Case

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor

Graphics Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Double Dissipation Video Card

Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit)

Power Supply: Antec Neo Eco 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Case Fan: Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan

Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD/CD Writer

I am new to PC building, so please excuse me if I ask a lot of questions or sound dumb. :)

Everything in your build looks compatible and nothing looks out of place. It is well balanced if you take my meaning. Just the right amount of ram. Good quality PSU with right amount of power. Great cpu and cooler. Core i5 is the best gaming cpu for price/performance. Corsair case is good quality and very sturdy. Well done! Cheers.

If I kept the 280x, how much FPS would I get from maxing out games on ultra? Also, if I were to lower the settings to high, could I get 60 FPS? I could deal with having a game on high settings instead of ultra, because I would rather not spend an extra $100-$150 for maxed out settings. And for a future upgrade, what graphics card would you recommend?

Thanks! Do you have any other suggestions, because, as I mentioned, some people think that my build is overdoing it a bit, and I want to get the most out of what I will be paying for.
