Hi all,

Can the Intel 750 series be installed. The drive connects to the M.2 using the U.2 kit

I stopped my workstation build at pcpartpicker because they have the 750s listed wrong and had to add it as custom item.

ASRock X99E-ITX
Intel Xeon E5-2687W V3 3.1GHz 10-Core Processor
Crucial 32GB (2 x 16GB) Registered DDR4-2133 Memory
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Superclocked Video Card
EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650W 80+ Platinum Certified Power Supply
Samsung U32D970Q Monitor
Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ITX Case

Thanks in advance,
Z

Hi,
I'm Davis from ASRock HQ TSD.

We tested the U.2 kit with Intel SSD 750 series(SSDPE2MW400G4R5) on X99E-ITX/ac.
It is able to work properly as it should, please feel free to use it.

Thanks a lot !!

Davis, can you tell if U.2 adapter include the cable needed to connect it to NVMe SSD - mini sas hd at one side and u.2 on the other one.

i know the cable is included with intel 750 ssd, but it is NOT with their P3700 for example.
i'm looking for the way to connect it to mainboard.
beside asrock, there's similar M.2 adapters from asus and msi, but no one seem to have cables! where can i get the cable?

Great!

Is there any specific install protocol used? ( I know there is with the samsung sm951)
Do we lose any performance or sata ports using this drive?

This build is basically going to be used for testing of LGA2011-3, will include VM box with multiple linux ditros, Apache, MySQL and PHP, NO micro$oft windows. We'll pop a Quadro in and run some CAD, DCC...etc. If all goes well everyone gets a new system.

Thanks again,
Z

Intel says this, and no one is offering the cable, yet. Intel short answer.. P3XXX cards are enterprise and run on HBA ( Host Bus Adapter).

Hi,
I'm Davis from ASRock HQ TSD.

About the cable of Intel SSD 750 series(SSDPE2MW400G4R5), it is included in the ssd.
About the cable of Intel SSD P3700, there is no cable of this ssd, it is PCIE interface.
It must install on the PCIE slot.
Please understand it.

Thanks a lot !!

Davis, please understand it, P3700 in 2.5" form factor will never fit into any PCIe slot.

get it in a pcie card form factor is not an option too, because i already made a mistake and bought 2.5" one.
so now just looking for a way to connect it.

i just don't understand what's the problem to offer cables?
what if a dog of an owner of 750 ssd will eat it's cable?
he have to buy a new ssd again because he will never find a cable anywhere?

intel do not make any M.2 adapters.
you make them.
and why don't you offer cables then? that is the question. :)

i don't really expect any answer actually.
it's just a words of despair...

Dear Davis,

I cannot find the ASROCK U2 kit anywhere? Would the ASUS or MSI kits work with ASROCK X99 mobo?

Hello Davis,

Will Intel SSD 750 series(SSDPE2MW400G4R5) work on Fatal1ty X99M Killer/3.1 using the U.2 kit?
Tested now with a Asus hyper kit and Bios (v1.3) doesn't recognize the ssd:(

thanks for your feedback

regards,
Stefaan
