7990 Crossfire runs super hot , as i read in a tomshardware article so might want to get good cooling solutions and a motherboard with enough space for air flow between the cards. Any reason you dont wwant to spend in a Single graphics card with the same money?
i want to buy these two cards because i dont have the money for both right now so ill start with only one of them and in the future when ill have more money and need a second card i want to have a capability to add another one of them, what mobo whould you recommend?
I guess you are getting it for a very good deal , just to be sure , can you list out the prices for the hd 7990 , r9 390/380 and a gtx 970/980 whichever falls in the same cost bracket.
The 7990 performs a bit better but needs a 700W PSU c/w the 970s 500W. In 3 years time the 970 will be the better performer since it will still get updates for drivers and SLI whereas The 7990 will be 5 years old since its already 2 years old and may struggle at newer games due to lack of optimization and updates.
And over 2 years the 970 will probably save alot in electricity compared to the 7990.
besides you will save half the mobo cost by opting with a regular 2 way Crossfire motherboard , and half the PSU cost , and the Cooling , oh the expense will never end ............
