Random freezes Windows 8.1, getting desperate

My problem started some time ago(almost a year) but I didn't really mind it because it happened like once a week or something. But over last months it was slowly getting more frequent. I recently ( 2 weeks ago) installed a new graphics card. The problem persisted through 2 windows reinstalls so I wouldn't say it's a software problem.

To specify the problem. Computer freezes completely, leaving only the hard reset as an option. Dunno if this is important, but I have to shutdown completely so it boots up again. Restart button isn't enough. Hang usually occurs during random activity, weirdly enough it usually doesn't happen while under heavy load. Lately it got really feequent. Almost twice a day approximately. I am pretty sure graphics card isn't the problem. My aim is hard drive or ram. Also psu could be an option.

My specs:
Windows 8.1
AMD fx 9370
R9 390 (old one is HD 7950)
M5a99fx r2.0 pro
Forton RAIDER 650w (2 years old)
HDD: WD1002FAEX
RAM: 4x2gb Kingston 9905403-178.A00LF

I ran most of the new games normally, the issue occurs mostly in chrome, lol client, while doing nothing at all and rarely under load.

Sorry for my english, not native speaker.

Thank you all for trying to help me out

Do you have Secure Boot enabled in the UEFI BIOS? If yes, disable that setting in the UEFI BIOS and try running memtest86 in multi-core again.

So, my psu is forton raider 650w, sorry for the mistake in the first post.

No, components are not overclocked.

But now something strange happened, my PC just shutdown. No reason why and it never did this before. Also I feel that the PC is loading things slower. And I can say it's taking an eternity to boot up.

In event viewer I just saw kernel power critical from the force shutdowns. Some other mistakes too. I'll post screenshot asap.

Edit: also tonight I am running a memtest86 for some answers. I will post results here.

So my cpu temp is around 40-45c idle and up to 72 while league of legends and AC:unity and also Prime95.

PSU is 26 months old, i guess this is the main thing after all. But why would it freeze while idle, that just doesnt make sense to me. Still suspecting malfunctioning RAM.

edit: Going to start the memtest86 now. I will post results here when i can

So I let the memtest86 run through the night with no errors what so ever. With the memory controller residing, I may be too uneducated to understand this. Could you elaborate?

Edit: with the memtest86, when I tried to run it in multicore, it got stuck every time, does that mean something?

So I reinstalled my OS and I switched from win 8 to win 7 and the issue seems to be gone, or at least didn't happen for few days. I tend to think it's a hard drive issue too, as I am experiencing slow loading and weird behaviour during moving files. Thank you all for the suggestions. If the problem persists I will contact a guy who helped me with this problem already. Thanks again to all of you.
