Hi I have an amd a6-6400k cpu(3.9ghz dualcore), 500 psu, amd radeon hd8470d graphics card and f2a55m-hd2 motherboard with 8gm ram. Im looking to improve my fps towards 50fps and would like to get mid to high level graphics settings on my computer when playing runescape. Mainly want to improve my graphics card without changing my cpu and motherboard, looking for something compatible with cpu and motherboard.
I don't know too much about computers and how to change cpu and motherboards out (my computer isn't custom built) but graphics card input seems pretty simple and I'm having trouble finding a decent graphics card without bottlenecking the cpu I have. Also I have researched quite a lot about my motherboard and Im not too sure but I think intel cpu's are not compatible with the motherboard so I can only use fm2 amd processors(or something like that)but if I have to improve cpu then I might do that aswell. My budget is around £200 for a graphics card and £300 if I am buying both cpu and graphics card. Thanks for any help.

Since Runescape is a browser based game, the FPS you receive from it would be more effected by your internet connection than anything. What are your normal upload/download speeds?

As for your hardware, I would definitely upgrade your GPU. Your processor seems okay, but the graphics would be my main focus right now. One of my favorte graphics cards is the Sapphire Radeon R9 280. I have personally used it in a few builds and is a decent, fairly priced card. I would have concerns about it fitting in your case though, as it is a very large card.

Your best bet though is to save up some money and build your own system. You could probably build your own system with decent quality parts for around $700-$800 (USD).

Hi (sorry, hope this doesn't count as thread digging),

I can only assume you're talking about RuneScape 3, as any computer within the last decade could easily run Old School RuneScape at high fps. As a game, RuneScape currently runs on Java and has been confirmed by numerous Jmods that it is more intensive on your CPU than it is on your GPU. So your best bet would be to buy a good processor, anything with four or more cores such as an AMD FX 4300 should run it more than fine, since you can only use Athlon processors or APUs however, I would suggest the A10 5800k. I personally use an AMD FX 6300 and it runs RS3 pretty well.

As for a GPU, despite what I previously said, it would be a good idea to get a good card also, as in the future RS will be moving to C++ with the new NXT client, which means the entire game will be rewritten and likely optimised alongside this. As suggested above, a R9 280 is a great card, and would likely run RS fine, I'd also recommend a GTX 960 (£150), it's a case of either/or, both would do you fine in a vast majority of games, not just RS3.

Good luck!
