Hey guys,
its the first time i m asking any question on any form. So,before qoing to my question i wanna tell u guys something my first mistake was that when i panned to upgrade my pc from Pentium 4 to core 2 duo i bought the dell optiplex 780 destop version instead of tower version . i has no idea that i was gonna regret that the person from who i brought this pc said that there is no differene in both cases . i upgraded my pc so that i can play some normal games like cod ,battefield ,fifa ,nfs not latest versions. So after purchasing my pc i started doing research on graphic cards . I didnt any thing other card back then still dont know much about it anyways after doing my research and looking for right card in my budget i found one...
My pc spec : dell optilex 780 destop not mini version
Processor : Intel core 2 duo E8400 3.0Ghz
Ram : 2*2 total GB DDr3
HD: samsung hd502hj 500GB
No graphic card till yet
SO, my problems or questions are:
Q1: Now when i m planning to buy a card for my pc i.e xfx radeon hd 6790 1 GB DDR 5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150564
not from here from my friend almost new but the problem is that i was plannig to exchange my desktop version with full tower version So that i can change the power supply becz its need a 450W power supply but it also has single bracket for card that means that it cant support a dual slot card wat should i do?? i cant leave that card its in my budget and can play the games i want to play. wat can i do ?? u guys can suggest me more pcs like this one.whether its hp or dell i really dont care which can support a dual slot card and should not be very expensive becz my budget is tight or any other solution ...?
Q:2 So i was planning to upgrade my 4 Gb to 6 gb and my cpu core 2 duo to core 2 quad but i have heard that there is noy much difference b/w these two is that true..? should i upgrade my cpu bez its not too much powerful i thought upgrading might help my graphic card for better performance i m definitely upgrading my ram ..Also will i be able to change my power supply in my tower version or it cant be channge bez without my power supply my pc is nothing...Should i upgrade this pc or not ..? Is throwing money on this pc is worth it..?
Q3: As i will be using the card for the first time so i thought some tips should be good about card how to use it e.g about drivers and heating and noise problem etc...
Note: i m not a hardcore gamer .Can enjoy medium games at mid settings..i m fan of first person shooting games like Cod and battlefield..
Sory for my bad english...
W8ing for your kind response..

I may it may not that's at your risk and investment -- you should look at your model and find guys that has added a card to theres and works -- or see what cards guys tried to use that did not work --

I cant find nothing ? thing is if its a low end card witch mostly comes on them from dell don't need the full 75x pci-e slot power then folks add a card the requires the full 75w and they fail to work ?

like I said above there only guaranteed to work as how you bought it out of its box - anything over that is all on you ..

stick it in if it works your fine if it don't then you know better next time ??

look for stuff like this --seems a good sign it will?? at least that card seeks to work fine ...
ditch the dell to start and get something real life like a custom board that should have little to no worry's on hardware or upgrading ..

heres something to be looking in to before you spend on a card and be sure it will work regardless if it fits or not

some models of store bought computers [dell.hp,acer,ect..] may come with a ''locked or fixed'' bios and may not allow you to change certain hardware as a video card.. this is done to protect them from undue warranty claims and refunds .this is not done to hurt you but to protect them. you really need to see if that upgrade has been proven to work in your model first before you invest money in it .. there are a lot of these threads here at toms to look at some models will allow upgrades and some dont.. and a lot of guys here say ya ya ya when is really no no no...it would be sad you spent $200 on a card that wount post after you installed it as most find out. then get told its your psu and you spend more and end up right back where you are now, but its up to you good luck..

you got to know the the boards in these computers are not like the ones we use to do custom builds witch are open to upgrading with in the boards compatibly . the bios is custom made for there design and just for the parts they authorize to be used on there computers there only guaranteed to work as is out of the box as you bought it ,..

also these boards do not have to meet atx standards and there pci-e slot power may not do the required 75w needed for most higher end cards and can be limited to say 45 or 60w that is all thats needed with the low end factory oem cards that it may of shipped with

One of the primary disadvantages of upgrading the Optiplex 780 machines is that they use a BTX form factor design which is uncommon enough outside of OEM's (Dell, HP and a few others) that finding cases to fit the motherboard may be tricky. I'm kind of thinking (I have a friend in the same predicament but an HP machine) that upgrading won't be that beneficial (or fiscally responsible).
What is the total budget you're willing to throw into a machine?

Ty guys for your reply
The main problem i m having is that my dell optilex cant fit a dual slot card as there is no space there. So should i replace my whole pc and buy a new one if not which dell or hp pc should i upgrade to...."junkeymonkey" so u are saying that my motherborad does not support this card as there is not enough watts
So wat should i do..?
i have separated my card money from other components and i will see how much i can spent after installing the card...
Q: will my motherboard support this card with external 450W power suplly...?

Junkey monkey like u said i started looking for new pc and i found a dell precision T3500 with Intel® Xeon® Processor W3520
(8M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel® QPI)
http://ark.intel.com/products/39718/Intel-Xeon-Processor-W3520-8M-Cache-2_66-GHz-4_80-GTs-Intel-QPI
with a Psu of 525 W which will handle my card xfx 6790..So should i buy this pc or buy a core i5 ...i also found a core i5 ....
i have heard that workstation are not for gaming is that true ...? if yes then what model of core i5 should i buy....
Another question As my card will use a 500+W supply how much extra electricity will it cost . I mean how much will it effect my electricity bill ...
plz do reply....

I never recommend a prebuilt for anything outside office or light home use [granny looking up recipes /e-mail grand kids /websurfing / ect...] .. sorry I no better help on this

theres reasons why we do custom builds and not just get a prebuilt. - what would be the point to do a custom job if prebuilts were easy to upgrade and all ??

Ram: 4gb crucial ballistix elite 1600mhz with box

Also can u recommend any Amd cpu which is equilant to i3 or i5 in less price so that i can same some money and buy 8gb ram....

Go here https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ to configure your build, it'll help ensure there are no compatibility issues. They have build guides which can help, the only problem there is it's fun to "play" with (I've spent many hours configuring fantasy builds there).

SIr i have seleted this motherborad for my HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Black...
Gigabyte GA-H81M-H Motherboard (DDR3, SATA 600, Micro ATX, USB 3.0, HDMI, Socket 1150)
I have some doubt that i wanted to clear ....will this motherbord support 1866MHz Ram...?
Second ... Will this motherborad support 2nd/3rd generation intel processor Like Core i5 2400 Or Core i3 2120...?
W8ing for reply

3.Support for DDR3 1600/1333 MHz memory modules

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5329#sp

http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-h81m-h.pdf

http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=5329

these support specs are listed with all motherboards you look at any brand [just the memory supported speeds are important not just the brand tested ] also nothing wrong with a good 1600 memory its the speed I like to use with intel when overclocking is not a must and I beleave you got to use a [K] chip to do over 1600 anyway

This Precision will fit this card and upgrade PSU, no problem if money are tight.
