Help getting the right adapter for my fans?

So the fans on my computer end in what i believe is a 3-pin molex. It looks like the square shaped ends on this image. http://76.my/Malaysia/4-pin-molex-4-x-3-pin-connector-cable-yahoong-1105-24-yahoong@8.jpg

However, I cannot seem to find the proper adapter to get them plugged in to my PSU. I thought I did, but I ended up ordering the wrong ones. Can somebody help me find the proper adapters? Of course the problem with this is that looking up "3 pin molex" on Amazon also gets you "4 pin molex x 3" and it tends to be the more popular results. I would rather not order the wrong one again. Thanks!

Solution

yeah thats male

what pc case are you using? and did the fans come with the case?

normally fan connectors are only male if the case has a built in fan controller

I'm not quite certain. The end on the left looks like what my fan's cables end with.

Those are just three or four prongs sticking out of the motherboard. They don't match the ends of the fan cables.

those are male 3 pin connectors your fans plug in those then the connector on the left plugs into a female version of it from your psu

fans normally end in female connectors not male

can you upload a photo of your actual fan cable

There is an NZXT one which is great but I'm afraid of getting the wrong thing again and I'm having trouble visualizing how the fans would plug into it. This one specifically. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997110&cm_re=fan_hub-_-11-997-110-_-Product

Motherboard doesn't match up. And yes, molex.

That device looks like it accepts one male 3-pin fan connector (at a female fan connector) and splits it to as many as ten female 3-pin fan conenctors (where the fans are connected). It looks like it comes with a molex to 3-pin male adapter to power the hub from molex as well as some kind of 3-pin daisy chaining cable. You would be interested in that molex adapter probably

This is the end of my fans, so that should work, right?

EEEEK! sorry can't open imgur links at work :) but if it looks like the male one of these then you'll be fine. Fan connectors are standardized so you will never actually run into incompatibilities, as far as connectors go

And the males are the ones on the left that are big empty cubes?

The male end is always the end that is attached to the fan and is a small cube that accepts the 3 pins. The female connector envelopes the male connector and has the 3 pins extending from the connector

NZXT 410 Phantom. Yes they did come with it and there is a fan controller and plugs in to the PSU. That is plugged in.

then take off the right hand side panel and look for wires coming from the direction of the fan controller on the end of those will be the female connectors you need to plug in to
