I have a 1TB WD HDD as a single drive however would like to look to add a SSD as a boot drive. I understand the best thing to do is a clean install of Windows 7 using the disk and product key. I built the PC myself and used an OEM copy of Windows and no longer have the disk.

I believe through right click computer > properties I can look at the product key however it has the words OEM mid way through, is this normal?

Is there anything I can do to move the Windows 7 boot from my HDD to a SSD?

Thanks in advance!

Belarc can help you document your program licenses. just save the file as HTML to a flash drive or some storage device. but it has to boot into windows before you do the work.

once you have tyhat license any media that has the windows install will work. but the license is specific to home/professional/enterprise so know which one you have. also most likely you want 64 bit not 32 bit

http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/

you can look up a guide to learn how to mount this ISO to USB and install windows that way; just don't electronicly do the license during install unless your hard wired to the internet.. best to manually activate later.

the other option is cloning if you really really want to keep your set up the same. personally i think new install is better.
