One of my fans was quite loud so I put them all into silent mode in the BIOS. I noticed the case fans weren't spinning, but the computer was working fine so I left them in silent mode. Then after using the PC for about 7/8 hours it shut down, probably because it overheated. Now when I turn the PC on it turns off after a second, there isn't any output to my monitors and I don't have a case speaker so I don't get any beeps, but all the fans spin except the case fans obviously. I have left the computer to cool down and I checked the heat sink and it is cool. I cleaned the computer a few days ago, so it isn't very dusty, I am pretty sure it overheated because the case fans weren't spinning. Does anyone know how I can fix my computer?

Does your computer make any noise when turned on? (Buzzing or beeps.)
It may be the PSU, because it turns off instantly or you may have overheated some component beyond it's limits and it's dead.

When I turn it on it just makes the normal sound of all the fans starting, but there isn't any beeps because I don't have a case speaker. The PSU, GPU and CPU cooler fan spin, but the case fans don't spin because they're in silent mode and they don't spin on silent mode. I think something may have overheated due to the case fans not spinning for the whole 7/8 hours of usage yesterday. I just don't know how to fix it and I hope it isn't expensive to fix.

are your case fans controlled by the case, your motherboard, or a separate fan controller?
if they are plugged into the case alone, it's controller may have died. if they are plugged into your motherboard, the thermal sensors or fan ports may be blown. if they are using a separate added fan controller, it may be installed incorrectly or damaged.

if you have access to another system(friends, family, etc) do troubleshooting with one of your components at a time in the 2nd system.

both of your issues have seemed related to overheating or a separate component failure. i doubt this is a new issue, but more than likely tied into your original problem.

please list your system specs and when pieces were purchased.

Maybe try clearing the CMOS? I had the same problem of an extremely hot CPU as you and also found out that my cooler wasn't good (it died). Sometime later, my PC started randomly shutting off, and then it started shutting off right after I powered it on, before anything even showed on the screen. It then stopped doing anything after I pushed the power button. I cleared the CMOS and It went back to shutting of on startup. I discovered that my PSU was dead, if after you clear the CMOS it keeps doing the same, maybe yours is dead too. (I also got a better one because of warranty, be sure to haggle if they try to give you a worse one)

The case fans work, but not in silent mode, I am not worried about that. I just stupidly left them in silent mode for a whole day, which I assume caused something to overheat.
Specs: Gigabyte GA-Z97N-WiFi, 16GB RAM, Intel i7-4790K (not overclocked), Cooler master hyper 212 evo, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, Corsair 550 PSU. Most components were bought July 2014, but RAM was bought a couple of years ago and CPU cooler was bought a couple of days ago.
I think it is a new problem that is down to my own stupidity of leaving the case fans on silent mode all day.

My CPU isn't supported by the motherboard so if I clear the CMOS would I have to reinstall the new BIOS that allows me to use my CPU? If so it would mean me installing an old CPU to get the new BIOS, which I would have to do another day.

only clears your current BIOS settings back to default. does not revert to a previous version.
