I should have mentioned this- The laptop I am installing the drivers for is a standalone computer and would have COMSEC issues if it were to connect to a network.

I must download drivers, write to a disk, and then install on laptop.

I know the names of the 2 drivers I need

1) Base System Device

2) PCI Simple Communications Controller

-thank you

The only safe, reliable place to get drivers for that is from Lenovo.

"COMSEC issues"? Care to elaborate on this?

well base system device could be a lot of things like a card reader etc

PCI Simple Communications Controller is likely to be intel chipset drivers or intel management engine if its an intel cpu

but why not just go to lenovo site and download all the drivers for it

I'm enlisted in the Marine Corps and do data networking. Some machines are not allowed to connect to the internet because of information on said machine

Thanks for heads up- I am the admin "team" (alone in the shop right now though)

I ran this by my staff Sgt. before he took off, it's all gravy.
Normally this would apply in a field environment or on a SIPR computer. This is a NIPR standalone, it will never connect to a network, nor will it ever have anything sensitive on it. The only files are for power point presentations on rifle safety.

im more of the routing and switching guy vs the pc update and finding drivers whilst multitasking other options.

fair enough though finding drivers especially from lenovo is pretty basic stuff

Everything is updated thank you- still didn't fix my major issue, hopefully it was a step in the right direction.
