I want to partition the rest of my Hard drive so i can use the remaining 1.6TB on it but im not sure if that will effect programs installed onto it. I heard somewhere that certain programs had to be installed on the C drive to function properly and it i installed them on a E drive they wouldn't work. I would just like to know if this is true or not.

a partition should only use up free space, and whatever program you use probably won't cut up your Windows files or anything like that, it'll just go to the free space first and partition from your 1.6tb pool.

Whoever told you that certain programs need to be installed on a C drive is.. well wrong. When you install a program on a different drive than the C drive your computer makes a note of the exact installation directory (location) in it's registry, and this can be viewed by going to your Regedit program on any Windows OS.

By the way, you should know that Windows cannot install on a hard drive (and therefore probably a partition) bigger than 2tb.

Ah, ok i see. Yes that answered my question perfectly, thank you. I was going to partition the extra space through the windows disk management because well its there lol.

I have seen some cases where the program wants to be installed on drive C, but in nearly all cases you will see and option to change installation location. If it doesn't give you the option then perhaps it has to be installed on C or more likely you missed the prompt to change it. With lots of people using SSD boot drives for fast starts many don't clutter their SSDs with lots of programs since the fuller your SSD is the worse the performance. So most if not all should allow installation on another drive.
