I don't know if this is the right section, but I'm having Win7 connection issues.

I recently switched from using a rather jenky way to connect to the internet, to a hardline. I have cat 6 running throughout my walls so I decided to take advantage of them. I wired both sides of the cat 6 to be keystone jacks, and then one cat 6 patch from the router to the cable and another from the other end of the cable in the wall to the back of my computer, and low and behold it worked. I noticed a huge improvement in speed. So I go to sleep that night and the next day I wake up, connection area, that annoying yellow triangle, says its a public, unidentified network. Was also giving me something about an ethernet cable being improperly plugged in, even though everything is. I read up on it, and many suggestions were to unplug for 30min to an hour, and try again. That worked. Now today, same issue, unidentified network. I unplugged everything again, took a nap, came back and the same issue. I have no idea what to do here, and it is extremely frustrating, any help?

In network center in windows it says its an unidentified public network, even thought it isn't this is the real issue, I ran tests of the wireless adapter (the one on my motherboard) It is an Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection. Device status says its working. Currently the Duplex is on auto, but when I manually change it the computer no longer seems to pick up the ethernet. Running the diagnostics here say the cable is fine, but it s\tells me it cannot run the connection test, something about how the adapter is configured to obtain an IP address automatically but no DHCP server is present on the network. What does this mean?

There are NO lights on the ethernet cable connection line this???

Yeah, we need to know if you are getting link and data lights.
