I recently started using a trackball mouse due to a shoulder injury and i purchased the logitech m570 trackball mouse. The mouse works great except for one thing: buttons 4 and 5 dont work (if i have labelled these incorrectly, i am referring to the 2 small buttons just left of LB).

They seem to work in certain programs and not in others. For example, for the function of using them to go back or forward while browsing a webpage work fine. In Skype, the buttons dont work at all (even though i am allowed to set them as the push to mute key). In C3, I am able to use the buttons and they used to work completely fine. However, for reasons unknown to me and totally out of the blue, it no longer works with 'push and hold to talk' setting but rather only toggle mute on/off setting. I have checked the settings in C3, set and reset them, and still the problem persists. I have another mouse connected (old microsoft optical intelli mouse) and this mouse works as it should (push and hold to talk). In the game h1z1, the buttons seems to work but it will only work for a moment then stop (your name pops up on screen when your mic is active and my name will only flash up for a moment then disappear). Again, my other mouse works perfectly fine. It seems to only recognize single clicks but not holding the button. It used to work in c3 for holding the button to talk and releasing the button to mute (push to talk) but no longer does.

I don't understand why in some programs it seems to work fine. In other programs it just doesn't work. And in other programs it will work but not work properly (referring to ignoring 'push and hold to talk' settings and using 'push to toggle mute' settings).

I have the setpoint program installed (gives options for bindings, mouse speed, etc). Im not sure if it was something in the program that changed but i have reset everything to default even though I have never changed any settings in the first place. I have tried various 'solutions' ive found on various forums and nothing has helped so far.

If anyone has any suggestions of what is wrong or what might be the cause I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thank you.

EDIT: The issues above are on my desktop. However on my laptop, which is older, c3 push to talk with m570 works fine. still has problems with skype tho. Perhaps certain programs dont recognize the m570 hardware? i have no idea.

It must have been logitech's set point program. After closing this, the mouse functioned as it should. If you are having similar problems as I have, try uninstalling the setpoint program. I had installed it simply to track battery life but something from this program was affecting the mouse functionality.
