Intel i7 960 Compatable Motherboards.

Howdy everyone!

I'm pretty new to the motherboard scene and am in quite a bind. I think that my motherboard might be dying and I'm not sure what to look for when it comes to compatibility between motherboards and CPU's. My current CPU is an Intel i7 960.

My PC still fires right up, but after a few minutes I will lose power to all my USB ports and the almighty internet told me that it is a 99% chance of a motherboard problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you need a motherboard using socket LGA1366. Most if not all single socket motherboards with LGA1366, will support your CPU.

This is the X58 chipset.
Do a quick search for "x58 motherboard" on amazon and you will find lots of options.

If you find one you like. You can go to the vendors site.. e.g asus.com .. support. look op the motherboard name and go to CPU Support or "supported cpus". Most will have the info easily available. The I7 960 is a midrange cpu. It's not the extreme version which might need extra power only found on some motherboards.

So you shouldn't have too much trouble.
