Hi all, well my problem its this.

Before i have an amd 965 and my gtx 660 works perfect in all games, but recently i buy an i7 4790k with an z97 gaming 3 gigabyte motherboard with a legal version of win 8.1 pro.

Well when i start to play it crashes on all games after 5-10min, depends on the game, for example in project cars can be 20min or 2min.

My specs:

-i7 4790k @4.00GHz with turbo boost to 4,40GHz
-8GB RAM 1333 Kingston
-Gigabyte GTX 660 Sotck OC 2 GB GDDR5
-3 HDD
-Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 3 with updated BIOS
-No DVD

This are all the things i try

-disable on board graphics
-switch on high performance power mode in windows
-clean win 8.1 pro install
-stress gpu test with no problem in 100% tdp
-reinstall latest nvidia drivers
-Update BIOS

All my temps are ok on full charge:

-CPU round 60-70 ºC
-GPU round 70ºC but the fan isnt in 100%

I test my gpu with gpu-z, i dont OC my GPU, but its the OC stock version of gtx 660

I dont know if can be the psu, i have an tooq eco power 700 wats and perfect work with amd 965

Can be the motherboard bios? I read that can be the RAM, i dont know if the motherboard have an OC with stock BIOS
Can be that the PSU isnt good for the new CPU and GPU? Or can be that the GPU needs more Voltage with the new motherboard?

Im very lost with it, all things i try all fail...

Any help can be awesome guys, very thanks!

EDIT: stress test with AIDA64 works normal, stressing CPU, GPU and RAM, with no problems
stress test with msi kombustor works normal too, reaching the voltage limit with out any problem

The nvidia driver only crash playing games...

Solution
Based on your description, in most probability it is memory leak issue.

To confirm it, start task manager along with game, after 2-5 min of gameplay(dont pause the game), ALT+TAB go to task manager, check the mem usage, if its mem leak you can actually see it climbing abnormally.

Some users have fixed by disabling Windows Aero, moving their pagefile from their Ssd to their HD, and some AMD video card users installing a beta video card driver, some report it post latest java update viz java 8 update 25(uninstall your latest Java update it and check for freezing again)

i'll try the Java once, im a java developer if was the Java install... $%&%$%#

I dont thinks that was the RAM, i stress the RAM with AIDA64 without any problem, PSU isnt the problem cuz TDP on CPU and GPU was on 100% without any problem.

The problem was only playing games, i will tell you if the Java was the problem in a few hours

Mem Leaks are often not caought by stress tests, in my experience

I unninstall Java JRE, put the power manager of NVidia 3D on performance, and nothing on task manager when playing or crashing/freeze games.

Im lost with that...
