Would I need a new OS if I change my motherboard, and can I keep the old OS on the old motherboard?

Yeah. The question above.
I'm new to the construction so I'd like to know where I could save some coin.

I'm planning to upgrade my current PC's motherboard and use the old motherboard to construct another mATX.

The current motherboard is a GA-78LMT-USB3 with Windows 7.
I plan to reuse it, once replaced, to build a home PC for the girls at home. Just for surfing and such.

Does my new upcoming motherboard rig need a new OS, does the old one, or do they both need a new one?

Solution
You can't use one license on two computers. The simplest thing is to keep the old license with the old motherboard. Get a new license with your new motherboard.

Thanks to the both of you.
I had a feeling I'd have to pay something.

And I'm scared to show them Linux since they're comfy with windows,
but of course it's better they know whats else is practical.

Thanks

Linux might actually be a good teaching tool depending on the ages of your kids. If they have ANY inclination to getting an education in IT then it will be part of their world....
