Hi everyone,
I currently own an XFX R9 280x graphic card and I have encountered a problem with my PC. The issue is as follows:
- When I browse the internet, use any program, watch Youtube videos or listen to music; at times I receive the orange screen of death with vertical lines displaying down my screens. (I have provided photos)
- Sometimes when this issues occurs the audio or music keeps playing in the background, sometimes the audio turns into static.
- This never occurs when I am gaming, only when I am not playing any game.
- When this occurs I hit the restart button on my PC and when it loads back up my computer is fine.
I have done a little research on my issue and from the advice that I have read I have:
- Re-formatted and installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1
- Installed and updated the latest version of the 'AMD Catalyst' drivers and software.
- Purchased a copy of 'CC Cleaner' and am constantly cleaning my PC.
- Purchased 'Driver Fusion' on steam to make sure all my drivers for my hardware are up to date.
- Monitored my GPU and CPU temperatures during gaming and browsing and they are fine.
- Updated my UEFI BIOS to current (being 1.4)
At the moment I believe that the video card may be faulty; but I don't understand why it is fine when its gaming. When I wish to browse the internet or use any program I have to open up a game in windowed mode and leave it running on one of my screens; if I do this the issue doesn't appear!
Below I have listed my complete PC specs:
CPU: Intel i5 4460
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Seidon 120V Plus
Motherboard: Asrock Z97M-ITX/ac
RAM: G. Skill (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel
GPU: XFX R9 280x (3GB GDDR5) [Core Clock: 1000 MHz / Memory Clock: 1500 MHz]
OS: Windows 8.1 (64 bit)
PSU: Silverstone Strider Essential 600W (80 PLUS Bronze certification)
HDD: 2x Samsung Evo 128GB SSD
1x Western Digital Blue (1TB Hard Drive)
