Hi, I've been thinking about upgrading my processor, but not my motherboard. I have a MS-7826 (kaili) motherboard, with a LGA1150 socket type. On hp were my motherboard specs was, it said that I can't go above the Intel Core i7 4790 (Haswell) 3.6 GHz Quad Core. Is there any other way I can upgrade my processor with changing my motherboard?

Thanks, A5567

Interestingly they only support the i7-4790 at 84W. The i7-4790k is technically an 88W part. It might be able to run it though, just an undocumented feature they don't want to list because they don't trust their VRMs to power an overclocked chip.

According to HP, you can go all the way up to a 4790K, that's as high as your chipset can go.

Its the most time consuming part of the computer to replace because you have to remove the graphics card and any other cards attached to the motherboard, all cables attached to the motherboard and then finally the motherboard and then install the new motherboard, wires and finally the graphics card and other cards if you have any. There are youtube videos you can watch that show how to build computers. I recommend watching 2 or 3 of them.
