Solution
Hi

Microsoft provided a program to convert FAT 32 to NTFS without loosing data
I think it appeared with XP

but before using it test hard drive using manufacturers diagnostic program
If that passes run chkdsk
if that passes empty recycle bin and make sure there is plenty of free space on the disk

Is this a internal or external hard drive ?

In any case back up any important data before running converter

As you have mentioned, "Microsoft provided a program to convert FAT 32 to NTFS without loosing data

Thanks for your time and concern m8, much appriciated :)
