Hi, I've been having this problem and I can't for the life of me figure out a solution. I'm not sure if its my computer or my router, but it needs to stop. Here are the details.

I've been using Skype and genuinely random times the computer will "drop" the internet connection. I notice my Skype partners video freezes, then about 3 seconds later I look down and every time my wireless Icon will show disconnected, and promptly reconnect within seconds, sometimes too fast to catch.

I can still see the network when this happens which leads me to believe it's the computer and not the router. However, the router has gone out these past few days entirely so Verizon is coming to replace it soon, will see if that works. This problem is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this? Or troubleshoot? I've tried power options and setting the wireless card to max power. I unfortunately can't test with another network as it's a bulky desktop (custom built). It happens so fast that catching it on other devices would be hard. I'm really at a loss right now. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You really need to use the router with another device such as a notebook, or smartphone to see if the router is the issue, or if it is the adapter on the PC. The alternate would be to just get a new USB wifi adapter for the PC and see what happens.

If I had to guess, in my experience, I have had this type of issue occur more frequently from the router going bad.

I've had the router for a little over 4 years, I'm going to see if that could be the problem.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will try to use skype with another device. However it would be a burden with a tablet I suppose in the end it's what has to be done. I have an old Wi-Fi adapter I tried and it seemed to just make a mess of things. I'll try again and see what happens.

Additional Info:
I doubt this is much help but after changing it to "Do not automatically connect" when it goes out it does not reconnect. When the problem happens I can still see wireless networks, full bars too.
