Hey, guys. I am currently having a lot of trouble with my PC, and I need a tech guru to help me out, so I would appreciate any kind of tips people could give me.

Two days ago while in the middle of an online gaming session, my internet connection instantly went, which is not unusual as that happens from time to time but always comes back within a few minutes, but the connection still hasn't returned. The strange thing is every other device connected to the Internet is working perfectly in my home (phone, laptop etc.) but my personal computer cannot connect.

My computer is connected to my router via a pair of TP links, which are working perfectly fine, I have swapped out the Ethernet cables with spare ones I had lying around, but the problem persists. The Ethernet port on the back of my pc case is not damaged, and there is no visible damage on the interior of my build. When I ran a diagnostic test, it read that a connection could not be made between the PC and the router. It will not pick up my wifi signal. In the bottom right hand corner of my desktop, the image displaying the status of my connection shows a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark in it's centre. My computer is working 100% fine, despite the aforementioned problem.

My OS is windows 7 64-bit, and my broadband provider is Eircom.

Any kind of help would be very much appreciated. Future thanks.

Basically, My Pc is in my study, it has one Ethernet cable going from it to a TP link plugged into a wall, that link wirelessly connects to the other TP link in my kitchen which is connected with an Ethernet to my router. Thanks for the response.

I was also told to do this by a less reputable site, but I am afraid to do this in case it's like a "delete system 32" kind of situation.

Start -> Run -> cmd

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns

unplug modem/router for 1 minute

ipconfig /renew

then restart.

Is this legit?

You have a Powerline setup. You need to unplug everything, and reboot the modem and router. Then, I would plug the Powerline adapters back in. Look at the LED lights, and see if they are making a connection, or not.

They do a have a finite lifespan, and need to be replaced every few years.

You're not using a VPN tunnel adapter. There should be another IPv4 address in there. If you see a 192.168.xx.xx (or a 10.255.xx.xx) number, you're getting an IP address. If you see a 169.254.xx.xx address, you're not (that's your network interface's autoconfigure address).
