for how long will a single gtx 970 can run games good at 1080p

Im building a gaming pc with i5 4690k and asus gtx 970 . i want know that for how many years will a single gtx 970 will run games nicely at a 1080p monitor?

Nobody can say that. And its very vague. You can play the games, but it depends on how well playable they are, at what level of settings, your resolution, what fps you want to achieve, what type of games (fast online shooter needs higher fps than slow high quality offline role playing games) and what the game developers are doing in the future.

You can play games with single GTX 970 maybe 5 years long, which means at least 30 fps with low settings (or medium, depends on the game) at a resolution of 1920 * 1080 pixels or lower for really high demanding games.

Is that answer enough? Because nobody can see the future.

Probably 5+, because even if the next generation goes to 1440p or 4k, you can always turn down settings and turn down resolutions.

Things won't magically change next year because sadly we're mostly tied to what the consoles can do.

We can't see the future, your expectation and definition of nicely, the future games and what other cards are available and so on.

Besides that, I expect playing with GTX 970 in 5 years with 1080p resolution and newest demanding games at least between low and mid settings. But I can be wrong.

Otherwise I want to upgrade next year to higher resolution and probably add another graphics card for sli.
