Is the Msi r9 380 4gb better than the r9 280x

So... I am wondering if the r9 280x is better than the r9 380
I am looking for future proofness(Directx 12 etc.)
I play games like gta 5 which use much vram so would I be better of buying the r9 380 or the 280x?
Btw: I am gaming on a 1080p screen

The R9 280 maybe better in some cases compared to the 380 but, being as you'd get the 4GB version and the software on board will be a lot more recent, meaning good future proof-ness, the R9 380 4GB would prove to be better overall. The extra VRAM on board the 380 would also be very helpful for games like GTA V.
