Best Intel core for Quck Sync?

My current AMD 3.1 Quadcore with 96 Cuda Cores on the video card transcodes HD Video on 1:1 basis, or one hour video takes one hour to transcode.

Is quick sync performance "the same" across all the cpu's or does it vary depending upon model number, cpu speed, ram or other factors?

I'd like to get a 1:2 performance at least or one hour video transcoded in 30 minutes.

Any link to a chart would be great as would any explanation or statement.

Thanks.

Ok...that makes sense. Assuming a quad core then what models will get me a one hour video transcoded in 30 minutes?

I have seen speed reports but no comparison between models. Id like to judge speed/cost as part of my next build.

Thanks.

By no comparison I assume you mean they all perform the same? Hmmmm....speed vs cost vs generations. I have seen specific model transcode performance. Looks like I need to collect the links until I can make my own performance comparison chart? These all have a diminishing return for faster speeds but I'd like to pick my own sweet spot.

Any ideas for what does 1;2 transcoding the cheapest?

I would assume that the IGP will benefit you more so if one has the HD4400 and the other has the HD4600 the HD4600 would perform a bit better as Quick Sync also takes advantage of that. So I would say a i5 4690K would be a good spot to start for price/performance.

Thanks for your continuing info. That model is $239 at New Egg right now.

The link above is very frustrating. Gives a score/comparison of Itel Model for encoding using handbreake which is Great===but leaves me the newbie with NO IDEA how it will actually perform. Any explanation to relate the performance show to how long it would take transcode a one hour video?

This model does get great reviews....it will be my default choice absent any fine tuning on point.

Ha, ha. Thank you so much. Sure does seem to me that Intel "hides" performance info and barely advertises the Quck Sync function which is the main reason I am considering departing from AMD.

Weird.

Thanks again!!
