My wife has a sewing machine that includes an attached embroidery machine that runs off of a PC. It is fairly old and used to run on Windows XP, but does not run on anything newer. There is an update available to install that will upgrade the sewing machine to work with windows 7 (which we currently have available). Unfortunately we do not have an XP PC available and neither does anyone we know. So my question is:

Is it possible to temporarily run XP or windows 98 on a windows Vista or 7 PC? Such as through a flash drive or directly from a disk? It would only be needed for about 30 minutes and then the sewing machine would be permanently compatible with Widnows 7.
