Windows Font Size Issues

Hello there,

A while back I purchased a 4K monitor for my Windows 7 machine, and also used my existing two monitors (both at only 1680x1050) in conjunction.

I used DisplayFusion to help a little with the multi-monitor configuration.

So after a while I realised that I needed to let the monitor go, due to emergency financial reasons (it had cost just over £400). So now I am back to having dual 1680x1050 displays for now.

My issue is that once I disconnected the 4K screen, more or less all applications now have really tiny font sizes. Chrome for example has small text for the bookmarks, tooltips for any application in the taskbar appear much smaller and almost hard to read, the 'right-click option menu' has small text too, and in various other places.

Windows Explorer, and desktop icons are not affected however. It just seems to be an issue that is affecting applications.

Now, it seems only common sense that the size of the font has been affected by the resolution difference the 4K monitor had, however after checking windows to see if the font size had been scaled it did not show anything different (besides, Windows Explorer and the desktop is showing as fine, as previously said).

I can't seem to work out what the issue is here, and it's beginning to become quite frustrating. Reinstalling Windows / restoring the computer is not an option.

Could anyone advise on what can be done here? Here are some screenshots to better understand what I am seeing:
