will r9 380 work on a z77 board

I recently got a msi r9 380 4g card and found out that my crapy motherboard bios didn't support the card and I can not find anywhere if the card will work on a z77 type board or any 1155 board I'd rather upgrade my board then downgrade the card does anyone have first hand experience with this card working on a z77 or any sandy bridge board

There's no reason that card should not work on your motherboard. (unless it's defective) And the Z77 is not a 'crappy' board/chipset.

You didn't forget to move your monitor's cable from the motherboard's video port to the card's video port, did you?
Do you have both 6 pin headers on the card populated?

Put the GFX card into the 16x slot (the top one) also have you connected the needed PCI-E cables?
