Should I go with a i3 4160 + GTX 960 for upgrade path, or AMD fx 8350 + GTX 960 without much upgrade path? Please respond ASAP.

Well the i3 can be replaced by an i5 or i7 but Intel is releasing their new stuff I think in Q3. So soon and that means the "upgrade path" is on a time clock as Intel will begin to slow the 1150 socket production. As for the AMD 8350, AMD keeps releasing those but you're not really going to improve much.

If you're will to spend $160 USD on an 8350, why not spend the $16 more to get an i5 and win all?

Many games will have the same performance in the i3 v 8 core. If the game is CPU heavy, the 8350 will have the lead. It really depends on what you want to do with the PC.
