Hello!
I just saw that 4770k and 4790k are the same price and that supposedly 4770k is outperformed by 4790k slightly. So should i buy the later one or just stick with the regular 4770k?

Solution
definitely the 4790k. But if you are building a computer you should let me have a go at picking parts. Do you need an OS/monitor/peripherals.

Thanks for quick answer. Well yes, I'm building computer, right now i have these components
Intel Core i7-4790K, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 AMP! EXTREME Core Edition, ASUS Z97-PRO, Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 Kit (cl9, 1866Mhz), be quiet! Dark Power Pro P10-650W, Samsung SSD 850 EVO (Basic) Series 500GB, WD Red WD20EFRX 2TB, Fractal Design Define XL R2. I'm looking for silent and powefull computer, will this suit my needs?

That 970 what kind of monitor are you planning on running it on. In other words if you plan on going higher than 1080p, or just want a card that performs better at higher resolutions at the same price, go 390. Trust me same price but 8 gigs of vram.

what are you useing it for? gaming? rendering? what is your budget? Do you care about rebates? Do you need an OS monitor or peripherals? what resolution are you gaming at?

I could make this faster and potentially quieter if you are gaming with it.
you also didn't list a cooler. If you are going for silent you definitely want a quiet cooler as well a strix GPU.

I'll use it mostly for gaming (GTA V ) and video editing. Right now I'm running 1080p screen, but I'll be upgrading to LG 34UM65 later this year. Yes I've been thinking of adding a after market CPU cooler. I have something like Dark Rock 3 in mind since its resonably quiet and efficient also it had very nice looks which go well with my pretty much all black setup.

I actually really want to stick with Nvidia cards, since I have really negative experience with AMD GPUs. The last one I bought was Sapphire 280x which was very loud and it was overheating a lot, so I had to sold it off. Really looking for quiet pc so I did not even look at AMD. (nvidia 970 comparison )

If you're going to be gaming at that high of a resolution you're setting yourself up for failure. Even running the two 970's in sli not going to do you much good, card would have to share 3.5 gigs of vram. If you plan on gaming at 4k you wanna go 980ti or furyx's. I say fury x's if you plan on sli, 980 ti if it's a single card, but even then i doubt youd get stable 60fps on a single card. Maybe fury x2? At the very least you'd need a 4gigs or more of v-ram. Especially when following the trend of games using more and more vram.

if you do a lot of heavy editing then an i7 would definitely be great but the xeon e3 1231 v3 is great for gaming and it will be good for editing. It is also 100$ cheaper so you can put that into other components. You also don't need a huge cooler for it as it doesn't run as hot as the 4790k. The PSU is known for being quiet and the fan will only turn on at high load. It is also 850 watt 80+ gold fully modular from a great PSU manufacturer.

Really don't know what you're talking about, excpet unrelated stuff. I mentioned ultra-wide 2k monitor not the 4k one. Big diffrence since there is quite a diffrence in pixels between these two (more than half since its not real 2k monitor but 2560x1080 one), so it doesn't need near as much vram and processing power to run things. Reviews (of 970gtx) I cheked had testings on these kinds of monitors and in most games it had way above 60fps on Ultra Settings.
It really bothers me that half people on this forum just answer something that I dont ask or give opinon on something that isnt really and issue in my case.

the thing is a lot of the time people will ask a question about 1 part of there build and i ask if i can see their whole build and it has some really poor parts in it. I always answer the question at hand before asking to see the build though and I answered your question.

Well as someone who has a 980 ti running at 1080p and getting around 60 fps and sometimes lower on max settings, i think you're gonna need a better card. But thats just my experience. A 970, is a bad idea at resolutions higher than 1080p. 2560x1080 is higher then 1080p. 3.5 gigs of vram isn't a lot of video ram, especially with the trend in games using more and more vram. Yes, it's unrelated to the main post just trying to be helpful, open you up to other possibilities or don't take the advice. It's your money do what you want with it. I'm just saying if you want to run games maxed out and have stable 60fps. None the less i apologize for giving you advice?
