Hi,

Due to unexpected Power Interruption, my 1TB Toshiba external hard drive become undetected in My Computer. I have read a lot of forums about it and already tried the steps they have provided but still my external Hard drive is undetected. I saw discussion that when they try to convert their external hard drive to slave drive they where able to recover all their data. So I would like to give it a try. I would to ask on how can I convert my Toshiba hard drive to a slave drive? when I opened the enclosure of the hard drive, there is no sata port. Please help me on this as I want to save the photos of my son. Thank you.

Hi there Cyann,

After you've done some troubleshooting, I assume that you've tried something simple as just changing cables/ports and the HDD is not recognized by Disk Management.
It seems that the HDD inside the enclosure has some sort of proprietary connector. In this case, you will need to use the services of a professional data recovery company. Also, it may be a good idea just to contact the manufacturer's Support on that.

Hi Cyann
With SATA drives there's no master and slave as it was in the older EIDE bus so I don't thing that solution will work for you. Did you check if your hardrive is detecting through Disk Management ( Right click on ''My computer'' then ''Manage'' and go to ''Disk Management'' unless it's Mac computer go to Disk Utility ). If it's detecting there means most likely it lost the partition table or filing system and that's an easier to recover. You can do that through many different software tools. If it's not detecting there it could possibly be the HDD logic board and you would have to use professional help ( computer service centre or Data recovery company ) unless you are a qualified electronic engineer. You are mentioning that you have opened the enclosure and there's no SATA port. Some drives have and external interface connected to the port so see if it can be dissconnected to reveal the port however some external drives have have the custom logic board with USB port attached and no accessible SATA port. Please double check that. I hope that helps. Good luck.
