Hi,

I am planning to build up a mini-ITX system in a Sliverstone sugo sg05 chassis that I already have.
Below is the configuration.
- Mobo: ASRock FM2A88X-ITX +
- Processor: AMD Athlon X4 860K
- CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 PC12800 / 1600MHz - 8 GB
- GPU:Sapphire Radeon R9 Nitro 380
- Will add an ssd and HDD that i already own.

My question is about the psu. As it only supports sfx psu so i have very limited options. Do you think a 450 watt psu from silverstone will be good enough? I am planning to slightly overclock the processor but not much (maybe to 4.2 Ghz). Also sg05 is a small case and I am not sure if it can accommodate all these specially the cpu cooler.

Will be really grateful for your valuable suggestions.

Regards!
- Ash.

Air cooling is a problem. You can't have a tall air cooler because the PSU is directly above the CPU, and you can't have a wide cooler because it might interfere with both the RAM and graphics card slots. Which basically leaves you with 2 options: mediocre air cooling, or water cooling. I went with water.

First thing to do is get Corsair Vengeance LP RAM. That's the stuff I use, and it's great. Same as the regular RAM, but much, much shorter, this might mean you can get something like the Scythe Shuriken or Coolermaster Gemini S. Although this will almost...

Thanks for your suggestions. Problem is I can't find a sfx psu at 500 watt. There are 2 options with 500 watt which is SFX-L size which means it's a little bit longer. Do you know if it will fit in that case?

this 450W PSU is quality and you will be able to overclock. It is cutting it close but it will work. See if you can get a gtx 960 for a bit more and you will definitely be able to overclock.

I used to own the SG05, sold it a couple of years back, but I'm very familiar with it and I'm certain that the SFX - L power supply will fit, so long as you remove the optical drive bay.

You definitely won't fit the Hyper 212 CPU cooler though, not a chance, the case is way, way too small. I used an Antec Kuhler 620 water cooler in mine. The radiator fits fine attached to the 120mm fan at the front (again, with the optical drive bays removed).

The HDD you own, is it 3.5" or 2.5"? Although the specs say the case supports 3.5" drives, it doesn't really, 3.5" drives are too big. 2x 2.5" drives fit just fine though.

I am aware of the 600 watt silverstone psu but it's very expensive where I live (around 150 EUR). With that money i can buy a new case and a good psu. Also can change the form factor to m-ATX which will cut down costs for other components and allow me more options. But I really want to try to use the case I have (SG05). Chieftec SFX-500GD-C is a SFX-L psu which I heard is pretty good and fully modular as well. But not sure if it will fit in the case.

Thanks a lot. Could you please suggest any good air cooling for this case? Yea I was planning of a ssd and one 3.5" drive. But I can leave without the 3.5" in one if it doesn't fit.

Thanks for your suggestion Rhezner. Do you think R9 380 won't be so good? I heard that there is some driver issues with that right now but hopefully it will be solved soon. Also it has 4 GB memory which I thought will be kind of future proof. I have very little knowledge in this though.

Although this will almost certainly overlap your RAM slots, the cooler is tall enough and the low profile RAM short enough that I think it will be fine. No guarantees though - you'll need to get the tape measure out!

Sell the 3.5" harddrive and use the money to buy a 2.5" drive. That's the setup I have, 256Gb SSD + 1Tb laptop harddrive, it's a great setup.

I'll go dig up some photos of my SG05, back in a few mins.

Thanks again. Nice suggestion really. Yea I should have thought about going with low profile RAM and I am going to that now. Regarding the HDD - it was a typo. What I mean is I can live without 3.5" HDD as I also have a small nas where I can keep my files. An SSD will be good enough for me for now. Also I am convinced to go for water cooling for the CPU. One last question though - Do you think 450 watt will be good enough for my build (with a little overclocking)? I found quite a good deal with one of the 450 watt sfx psu from Chieftec smart series. I will go for that if that's enough.

P.S. your build look really great. I really like the small size of the pc.
