my situation is, I need an alternative in the next month. I use straight talk for the last couple years after having verizon for years, because of price, it covers data usage, & such, for what I use. I also have a Cricket modem that I use for internet, and have had for several years, & they are dumping the system, it's out of date, so I have about a month to figure a better solution out.
I'm on a tight budget, and spending about $90 a month between the phone & internet.
I'd like to make that less if possible.
The crappy internet from cricket works, pretty much fulfills my needs, kinda sucks, but has worked, but will be gone soon.
My phone is an older huawei I use on straight talk & works fine, but iI mostly use it for a phone, don't do much other than phone, text, see when I get email on it. Oh, & take a few pics here & there.

I use up to about 10 gig sometimes on internet, and very little on my phone, maybe 200 mb or so

I have some older computers I use the cricket broadband in sometimes, and some don't have wifi working, so I kinda need something that can tether and be a hotspot.as needed, something that can plug in to a USB port

I just wondered if anyone had any suggestions as far as a good remedy to either combine the phone & internet, with what I need for now, or other suggestions. I'd really like to stay less than $90 a month (hopefully less) for phone & net that will work, & I'm going to have a hard time buying any new device right now. Yes, I'm like broke...

I know I'm behind the times, but I need to make things I have keep working for now.

Any suggestions are appreciated, & thanks for reading!

yeah, I guess. I'm not so much looking for speed or anything, more like reliability, & have kinda had that with the system I've been using that won;t be supported any longer. I just hoped I might find some kind of solution that may help here, since I've found some great advice here in the past viewing threads, I guess I'm just kinda behind the times, & apparently out of luck on trying to do things the old way
Thanks

Well, I didn't so much mean that wireless was the old way, & of course, it;s not. I was more referring to what I said in the beginning, about also needing something that can actually plug into a usb port for internet as well as being portable. That's what I'm using, & apparently it's obsolete, & no longer supported. Wireless would work in some situations for me, but I'm looking for both. I guess I wasn't clear on that or something.

Phone is a huawei 865, & straight talk has that locked up so I can't use it as a hotspot. yes, Android. I have an 866, & maybe I could use it, but haven't transferred yet & checked it out. Yeah, both kinda crappy older phones, but that's what I presently have to work with, the 865 works fine for a phone. yes, USB can be a pain in the neck, but it works, has been reliable, for the most part, & once the driver is loaded, I can plug it into whichever computer I have, & it works. For instance, I have 3 in one building, that have specific purposes, not always requiring internet. BUT, if I'm on one & need to get online, it's easier to just plug it in than go to another computer & start it up. Again, I'm not in the position to upgrade everything right now, so if I can make internet work as-is for now, it would really help
& I can't do a fixed line everywhere I need right now, too many places. I can't do things optimal, just trying to keep what I do have working. Maybe I came to the wrong place to ask, & maybe I didn't explain my situation well enough in the beginning of the thread, but it seems I'm trying to explain the same things over & over
