I've tried connecting my dad's hard drive, my mom's laptop and files are shown. I try connecting my laptop hard drive(laptop is done for, dunno why) and it shows the user's folders, but they're all empty. I had lots of pictures, some old essays, my resume and various other things.

It's a 500gb seagate 2.5" hdd. Using a sabrent docking station.

Any ideas?

Solution
perhaps the format is not being recognized, try using another computer to read the drive. This has happened to me before with usb drives.

thanks that actually helped to a degree!

I got my resume, which I had saved to my desktop. But it's telling me my documents aren't accessible. And my pictures folder is empty when I have probably around 50 in there(not that I care, it was mostly memes lol) but my biggest concern is my quicken folder. That's also empty @_@

Does quicken automatically back your stuff up online somewhere? If so I can breathe a little and I'll just call or support online somewhere. But my documents folder is a little upsetting. I can right click it and see there's 4GB worth of stuff in, but I can't access. If I moved/copied this from hard drive in the dock to a thumb drive would I be able to access it? Or same issue? I mean it's not beyond imperative that I get the documents, but I'd really like to.

I would say to use a mac in order to read the files. It could be a virus also (you never know). A mac should read everything that is in there, that way yiu can get it out of the drive and then read it in another computer or convert the files it into another format.
