Hi, purchased a new pc, but it keeps randomly restarting with no warning and no BSOD. Event log lists Event ID 41. I've checked many many threads and tried many solutions but so far nothing I have tried is working out, so i was wondering if anyone has found anything that has worked?
So far I have tried:
-Reinstalling windows
-Replacing mice and keyboard for generic p&p versions and removing all associated drivers
-Cleanly installing different Nvidia drivers
-Disconnecting and reconnecting the RAM and the GPU
-Disabling all of my audio drivers
-various software related fixes found on the web
-monitoring temperature(all normal)

I've been trying for the last 2 days so a lot of little things I cant remember distinctly.

Event logs and pc specs are as follows.

PSU. That Corsair PSU has been the bane of my existence. I used to run it in my machine and I had the same restarting problem.

I can't guarantee that it is your problem, but looking at the steps you have taken so far I would place money on something hardware related is faulty. The first, and cheapest option, is the PSU. If you can, put a known-good PSU into your computer and run it for awhile. You might have to pull out your graphics card depending on the wattage (you don't want use a known-good PSU with low wattage on a lot of hardware). You could also put your current PSU into a known-good machine.

Also, before you do that, testing your RAM would be good. Either a bad RAM stick, or slot, could cause this too. Try removing all but one stick and testing it. If it keeps restarting, then move the stick to another slot. Keep repeating until you have exhausted the slots on your motherboard, then do it with another stick. Rinse and repeat. Memtest could be helpful too.

I was figuring it might be the PSU, unfortunately this is the first decent PC I've ever owned and I don't have any other PSU's lying around, and I've just upgraded from a laptop, so I'm trying everything before going through the process of returning it and waiting for a new one, as if that didn't fix it I would have just lost a week.

Thanks for your response.

I understand, but looking at the troubleshooting you have done so far it looks like that it isn't a software related issue (assuming that you did some MBAM scanning, or another infection removal tool, to make sure you weren't infected), so it is most likely a hardware issue. You can do all the troubleshooting you want, but if it is hardware related the only way you will know is if you physically replace the part.

BUT - you can try breadboarding it though. That would involve removing the motherboard, PSU, and HDD from the case and setting them on an ESD safe surface. If you don't have a specialized mat, something that will not shock the board would be great - like a cardboard box. Set the motherboard on the box with only one stick of RAM in the A1 slot, the CPU with heatsink (obviously), your HDD, and the PSU connected up. If you board doesn't have onboard graphics, then plug in your GPU too. Then see if your problem is still happening.

This will eliminate any shorts in the board or bad grounds that could be causing this issue.
