I currently have an AMD HD 7970 in my rig, which consists of:

i5 3570k overclocked to 4.4 Ghz
16GB DDR3 Memory
512GB Samsung SSD
750 Watt Antec Power Source
3 other Sata HDDs

Im looking to get 1080p 60fps at max settings for current games, something I'm not able to achieve with just the single HD 7970.

Am I better off investing in a newer card and selling my HD 7970, or would I find better performance or value by finding a second 7970? Keeping in mind my power source, as I'd rather not have to replace it if 750 watts isn't enough to support my current rig with 2 cards.

I don't need anything crazy, no Titan, extreme resolutions, VR games, or anything like that.

Mainly, just 1080p with a constant 60fps with games at full graphics capacity, and if I do end up replacing the card, one that will be compatible with Directx 12 when Windows 10 is released would definitely be an important factor.

Thanks for your time everyone, any help or insight would be much appreciated =)

My advice is to upgrade to a 390 or a 970. Both should get you 60 fps 1080p. The 390 is way better in everything but wattage and a bit on thermals. If you can a 390 is a worthy upgrade from a 7970. I recommend the 390, check any vid on youtube and site the 390 is better even at 1080p and runs away at 1440p and 4k.

Great cooling and backplate. Looks epic and OC capable.

second 7970. I had 2 7950s and they were more than I needed for anything at 1080p even skyrim with a boat load of mods held a consistent 60fps even with an ENB. Also a second 7970 can be found for just over 100 bucks and is at least worth a shot in my opinion.

Someone in my area has an HIS brand HD7970 for $150 canadian. Im not too familiar with that brand, do you think it would be worth grabbing that over a 970 and selling my current GPU? And does crossfire with different brands make for a problem, or is it mainly just the chipset that matters? And lastly, would my 750 watt ps be able to handle those two cards along with all my hard drives?
