Hello everyone, I have come here as a last resort as my dad and I are looking for a way to block from are router, we are using a net-gear router with smart wizard, we have already tried putting www.netflix.com into the block list along with the keyword Netflix but it has not worked, she watches Netflix on multiple devices such as Ipad and ps3 so theres that too, any help we could get with this would be greatly appreciated, Thx alot

The keyword blocking does not work on devices that do not use the router as the DNS server. This also always happens on android and some of the newer roku boxes because those devices always directly use google dns to try to prevent people who are using dns spoofing to watch netflix in unauthorized areas. People also were using their router to do this so in breaks both that hack and your ability to filter by dns names.

You will need to use the firewall option and block outgoing session and put in a list of netflix wan ip.

To get the addresses the easiest way is to open netflix on your computer and look in the network part of the resource monitor (ie RESMON from run box) . Otherwise try ping www.netlix.com from a cmd window. Just...
First, what exact router are you using? They may have specific controls outside the normal filtering most routers can do.
Also, just off the cuff, try it without the "www" prefix. So just netflix.com
Since she watching it as an app on ios and ps3 it may not go through the same name anyway. For that you'd need to use something like wire shark to monitor your network and see who'd pulling what in from where.

Just blocking the main page though is not always enough so the resmon method is better since there are other servers that actually send out the video.

Netflix has different IP from different parts of the country and in different countries so it tends to be hard to get a list of ip off the internet.
