What mobo would be better for an i7 4790k?
GA-H97-Gaming 3 or MSI B85-G43 GAMING? the prices are relatively close here in PH so it won't be an issue. thanks in advance, guys.

Solution
asus z97 pro will be a good match.
or msi z97 gaming 5.
h and b chipsets do not allow cpu overclocking. even if they do, those motherboards have inadequate power delivery for the i7 4790k.

The MSI has an easier to use BIOS. But doesn't have as good a chipset as the Gigabyte board and has much less ports. Also they have different form factors so what type of case are you using? Basically the Gigabyte is better for gaming, heavy stuff etc. but the MSI is easier to use.

If I were you, I'd go with something with a Z97 chipset to overclock your Intel CPU

OP here. (sorry for being away for so long) So, I wanted to take your advice and I browsed for some mobos that are 'in stock and easy to access from where I live' and I came up with this list. MSI Z97 GAMING 3, ECS Z97-MACHINE, MSI Z97 GAMING 5. i'm still searching for stores that has the ASUS z97 mobo. which is more worth the money?

the gaming 5 is the best among the three above.

however.
intel skylake just came out. the cpus look decent for a new build. new z170 mobos are out to, will soon get reviewed. here's a roundup of what's coming out (not a review):

check out the asus and gigabyte pages.

if you're not in a hurry, starting with skylake may be good.
