The last time I tried, BIOS kept flipping the SECOND DRIVE (SLAVE) to the MASTER position. I'd switch it back, and BIOS would, again, switch the second drive to MASTER.

Hello... There can be more than one type of Hardware Chip on your MB Sata inputs, and some WORK better for some hardware... but a modern BIOs can be very versitile in BOOT order performance and settings.
I have some Sata drives with Jumpers... not un-common... re-check yours please... The Master/Slave thing should not even be showing up in a typical Sata drive/BIO's screen Computer build, unless your hardware is forcing the issure with your MB.
1) Try clearing your BIO's memory to defaults and re-boot.
Hello... You need to "Save and Exit" any changes to the BIO's... also changing your connections to the Mb can affect the order... Some hardrives have a Master/Slave set of jumpers next to the power/data connections... check to see if this is causing a problem for you, CLS stands for "cable select"

Thanks for your reply. I should've made it clear (my fault) that I'm using SATA drives, being they have no jumpers. Also, I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Motherboard. I was also wondering, maybe, last time, I might have plugged the SATA cable into the wrong port (on the MB). The way I understand it, there IS a sequence for plugging in the cables. Example : First--port 1, then port 2, etc ?
