some sory of memory leak?

So for some reason my memory goes up all the time. I have let my pc stay on for 30 days and it just hit 8gbs which is weird so I restarted it. it had been on for 3 hours and already hit 3.5. I left it on all night for some torrents and it is at 6.5.

the processor use is at 0% so I am doing nothing.
I have 16gbs of ddr4 ram.

Hi,

I suggest restart in safe mode and goto bleepingcomputer.com and download / run
JRT ==> roguekiller ==> adwcleaner.
Then reboot and run malware byte
to rule out malware.

Also you have a lot of process on startup, you can download ccleaner and disable some of them.

Also I would disable bittorrent unless you are downloading stuff. If you let the computer run untended, usually bittorrent will gobble more and more computer ressource and can slowdown the computer.

I barley have anything in start up. and my pc is plenty fast. I have a 5960k processor. bittorent runs 24/7. And I have an SSD of course.

Hello... 1) type/run MSCONFIG, and Post a picture of "startup"
2) run Task Manager and and Post a picture of "Applications"

Hello... The POINT being... If you have things to startup at Windows Boot, THEN they are free to do what ever they want, AT anytime of the Day, For whatever Reason, and use your computer memory. Typically they will use memory and not delete it afterwords till you re-boot your computer fresh agian. B )

And I haven't installed anything new so why would it start using a ton of memory now? Because it just felt like it? and I need the programs as well

I'm worried it will go further. up to.. you know.. 16gb? for no apparent reason?

Hello... There are Preference setting for all the software you are Pre-loading in Windows... By default they set themselves to do what ever they want... look at them and limit online update searches, Data storage and Data mining in the background... Set temperary storage to a locating where you can keep an eye on them.

I once had a remote bit coin miner sneak onto my system and I had the same thing happening plus it was keeping my GPU utilized. Also even though you might not have much running in the background or at startup, the programs that you DO have are very background intensive. Skype, Origin, Rainmeter, BitTorrent, Steam are all constantly refreshing and updating while running in the background.
