I have all the latest updates (BIOs, utility, etc.) and I'm curious if there is any way to turn on my PC by using a keystroke? My PC is located in a very hard to access location, so it's becoming a nuisance to turn it on by pressing the front power button. Are there any simple solutions to this beyond just sleeping my PC and waking it by keyboard? Windows 7 tends to run slow after resuming from a long sleep so it's a bit pointless imo.

yep, wake on keyboard, it's a setting in your BIOS however, that is not a freature/option that all BIOS's have. My old motherboard had that, my new one doesn't...

Agreed, that's why I used to have it turned on until I got my current motherboard that lacks that option.

hah, turns out mine DOES have it.. "PS/2 Keyboard power on", I've just never enabled it cause I use a wireless USB keyboard, I might try an adapter and see if I can get that setup again.

Are you sure the "Wake on Keyboard" option actually turns on the PC? I just assumed it woke the PC up from sleep, as even with the option on I had trouble booting my PC by keyboard. I have a USB keyboard though, so is that the problem? Even if the option "Wake by USB" is on?

Yes, In the BIOS on my previous motherboard it was either wake on keyboard or perhaps it was phrased slightly differently PS/2 power on? keyboard power on? but at the time I used a PS/2 keyboard. The downside to that setup was that, once in a while I'd come home and my computer would be on because my cat would walk on the keyboard which turned it on. Regardless of the phrasing the option may be in your BIOS. And I'm not certain but you may have to use a PS/2 keyboard or adapter to get it working. I've tried but have never been successful getting the computer setup to turn on from a USB device.

Also, some BIOS's label them as "Power On _______" with the blank being USB or PS/2 keyboard etc.
