I'm deciding whether or not to pull the trigger on a 290x but am not sure if my power supply is going to be able to handle it. My power supply is getting pretty old, probably 5.5 years at this point and it is a Corsair TX750W 750-Watt Power Supply. Is this thing about to blow on me? Will it power the 290x after all of this time or will its capacity have deteriorated over the years?

Hi - The TX 750 is more than sufficient to power a system with 1 290x. With that said, if you've been
gaming on it for 5.5 yrs., you may want to upgrade if you can afford to do so. As to when it will blow,
no way of telling, might go for another 2-3 yrs.

But, since (in the US anyway) it originally carried a 5yr warranty, it would be prudent now...

But, since (in the US anyway) it originally carried a 5yr warranty, it would be prudent now that upgrading
to high end GPU that you upgrade the PSU as soon as is practical. Keep quality (not price) in mind.

Even if the capacitors have lost some over the years the TX 750 has enough headroom to still
run your system as a good 650w unit would be more than enough.
