Hello everyone

I am going to be building my first computer first but didn't really know what tools i would need
The hard drive doesn't come with its equipment such as the mounting and cables, and are there any other tools I would need?

Thanks to anyone who helps,

You really only need a screwdriver and possibly some zip ties for cable management.
Your case should have some screws for screwing in hard drives or optical drive if it supports it. Your motherboard should provide you at least 2 SATA cables. You power supply will give you all the power cables you should need.

Your case and/or mobo should come with screws and sata cables.
You'll need a screwdriver.
Other things to consider would be thermal paste and microfiber cloth for aftermarket cooler, esd wristband so you don't ruin your componets, and maybe same zip ties for a cleaner installation.

I would say:

  • a few different size Phillips screwdrivers.
a flat-head screwdriver just for prying/whatever/you never know.
    a pair of plyers
a pack of zip ties for cable management

Another thing I like to do is save all of the twisty ties that come with all of the components and use that in replace of zip ties. Then you don't have to cut them or buy zip ties.

I have used those but the heat inside the case sometimes withers the sheathing over time (since they are so cheaply made) and they get brittle and fall apart leaving your wires wrapped in conductive metal wire (never good), and little bits of plastic paper crap all over the place.

All the tools listed above will get you through the job, but here's a couple 'helpful items' you may want to have nearby:

A file. Depending on the case you're using, you maybe have to remove the backplate from the case (where your external MOBO connectors are accessed). If you have to remove the existing backplate, there might be a few sharp edges. If you have to file anything, make sure you also clean out the case afterwards so you don't have any filings floating around.
Some wire cutter .. for the excess zip-ties .. are helpful too.

Your case should provide you the mounting screws for the drives. The motherboard's accessories should provide you with at least two SATA cables to use.
