So I've been working on this chip on a closed loop water cooler. At stock my asus 990fx keeps it at 1.35v default. I've managed to get 4.7ghz @ 1.428v. I can't get any higher because tempo settle at 70 and 62c on core and socket.

Any ideas to get it higher? Is this a lack luster chip?

Running 4 noctuas push pull maybe time to go custom loop.

The chip is probably fine, but you'd be hard pressed to get over 4.7GHz with a closed loop cooler. Most of the builds I've seen that hit 4.8GHZ or higher (and I've looked at quite a few since I have an 8350 with a closed loop cooler also) used custom liquid cooling setups.

Also, 70C is above the maximum recommended temp for that CPU, so you may want to back it down to 4.5-4.6GHz to make sure you don't damage it.
