I5 4460 + gtx 750 ti or fx 6300 + gtx 960 2gb

Solution
A little over 600, but with an i5 and R9 380, which = an R9 285.

I recommend the i5. The FX 6300 is overpriced but might offer you more tweaking capabilities if you are more familiar with AMDs.

However, the answer to your question could depend upon the purpose. Gaming? Video editing/rendering? Graphics design? Typical household use (browsing the Internet and multimedia)?

Thanks for all your answers, this pc will be used for mostly gaming and browsing etc. I'll wait for intel to release their new products and try to pick up an i5 with an gtx 960. Is the gtx 750ti still any good? I will be playing games like cs go, battlefield 4, far cry 4 (That's why I'm concerned about the i3 being dual core) and star wars battlefront when it releases.

I'm revising my answer based on your feedback. (But I still say ignore the FX 6300 option.)

The only reason to go with a gtx 750ti over a gtx 960 is budget. The gtx 960 is superior in all respects. I'd only do a gtx 750ti at this point if building a budget machine and I found an amazing price for the gtx 750ti.

Since gaming is your purpose, the video card becomes even more important. The i3 is almost as good as the FX 6300 on benchmarks, and the 960 is a vastly superior card to the 750ti.

For the i3 motherboard an ASRock or Gigabyte gaming motherboard that is within your overall budget would be a wise investment. I don't know what this comes to in Euro, but since the Euro has more purchasing power than the Dollar you should be within budget even if prices in your area are different. It could probably be tweaked a bit by others with a little more know-how.

Not a good suggestion, at all. At that cost, you could have managed an i5 with an H97 board.

As others have stated ignore the FX 6300 option. The i3 is superior to FX 6300 in all, but the most threaded, of situations. It has to be overclocked to match, or beat i3. Spending the money to do that, you are just as well off going with an H81 board, with an i5.

OP, is this budget for a complete system?

600-650€ is the budget I have for all the parts (no os and case needed) So that leaves about 200€ left for the cpu/mobo. The gpu will most likely be the MSI gtx 960 2gb because i can't find any r9 2xx anywhere. So if anyone could give me a good cpu/mobo where the i3 can be upgraded to an i5 later on it would be very helpful. Thank you.
